These are words from the our today’s little reportage, prepared by the students of Special Talented Group of Azerbaijan State Economic University. I don’t know the reason, but every year the weather cardinally changes this day. And great thanks to all who participated in creation of this video. You are all great!
Nargiz Huseynova:
“We are students of the Special Talented Group of Azerbaijan State Economy University. And today, in spite of bad weather conditions, we are here and would like to make an important speech, which we want, all of you to hear. The speech about the tragedy of 20th of January, 1990. In order to make you closer to the facts let’s go to the Alley of Martyrs.”
Cavid Ismaylov:
“As you can see, we are standing next to the “Shehidler xiyabani”- Alley of Martyrs, where millions of people come to visit the fallen innocent people, who deserved the name of shehids, every year. Let’s get closer.”
Aykhan Huseynov:
“After the Republic of Azerbaijan regained its independence, it has become possible to renew the objective picture of the past history of our nation. The truth which for many years was kept back, is getting disclosed and misinterpreted events are getting their real value.”
Nargiz Eldarova:
“Numerous acts of genocide against Azerbaijanis, which for many years did not receive its deserved political and legal assessment, is one of the secret pages of our history.”
Calal Allahverdiyev:
“The Soviet Army started its military operations against Azerbaijan early morning Jan. 20, 1990 before declaring a state of emergency.”
Turan Eldarova & Kamal Mammadov:
“This tragedy took the lives of 131 people. Some 744 people were severely injured. Four went missing and 400 were arrested. 21 people were killed after a state of emergency was declared on Jan. 20. 26 people were killed in the Neftchala and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan.”
Sinan Aghayev:
“The Soviet military operations resulted in an unprecedented tragedy as the valiant sons and daughters of Azerbaijan sacrificed their lives to place our freedom, honor and dignity above everything else.”
Ulviyya Aliyeva:
“This day is called as “Bloody January”, which is accepted as a heroic page in the history of Azerbaijan’s struggle for freedom and territorial integrity.”
Alesker Quliyev & Leyla Mirzayeva:
“The tragedy affected the lives of thousands of innocent Azerbaijanis and demonstrated our inexorable spirit and pride as we fought against the Soviet policies that restricted our freedom. We achieved the independence that we had dreamed of for so many years.”
Ilham Balakhishiyev:
“Majority take “20 January” as the tragedy and also see it as the next page of heroism of our people in the history of Azerbaijan. And we, being the future of Azerbaijan, will never forget the past, and will try only to stride ahead to make the brilliant future for our country! “
